Head Lice

Head lice (pediculosis) are a common occurrence among school-aged children and are not considered a reportable disease.

HPEDSB recognizes that excluding students from school does not prevent or control the spread of head lice and may unnecessarily stigmatize students. As a result, students identified as having head lice will not be sent home or excluded from school solely for this reason.

The school will work with students and families to provide information and support regarding appropriate treatment and next steps. If you discover that your child has head lice, please notify the Main Office so that we can provide appropriate information and support.

For more information, please refer to HPEDSB Procedure 321: Pediculosis (Head Lice).
