Students have two recesses each day and, whenever conditions are safe, we go outside for both. We encourage students to be prepared for the weather so they can enjoy outdoor time throughout the school year. Light rain will not normally prevent us from going outside. Please ensure your child comes to school prepared for the weather. A rain jacket and/or umbrella can be helpful on wet days. If there is a risk of lightning or weather conditions are particularly severe, such as heavy or pouring rain, students will remain indoors for recess. Our goal is to provide as much outdoor time as possible while keeping student safety as our priority.
During the winter months, please ensure your child has appropriate clothing for outdoor play, including boots, snow pants, a hat, mitts/gloves, and a warm jacket. Please label all clothing and personal items with your child’s name.
If your family requires assistance accessing appropriate warm clothing for your child, please do not hesitate to contact the school. We are happy to help connect families with available supports.
Our goal is simple: to get outside, enjoy some fresh air, and make the most of outdoor time whenever conditions allow!
